Sculptra
Dermal fillers add volume to fine lines and wrinkles as well as creases and folds. Grady Core, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board-certified plastic surgeon, treats people living in Birmingham and Mountain Brook with Sculptra® to restore volume to the face and a younger looking appearance.
Sculptra is used to add volume to sagging skin that creates a hollow facial expression that makes you look tired and older. When injected into the skin, volume is added to the skin by boosting collagen production. Sculptra can be used in different areas of the face.
Sculptra is a favorite filler among plastic surgeons, with Sculptra Birmingham patients have experienced the following benefits:
Sculptra is a versatile injectable treatment that restores volume to areas of the face that have lost fullness due to aging or fat loss. It addresses common concerns such as:
By targeting these areas, Sculptra helps create a rejuvenated, natural appearance that improves over time.
If you have lost volume in your face due to fat loss and have sagging skin, you may be a candidate for Sculptra.
As with most dermal fillers, there is no preparation for your Sculptra treatment; however, we recommend you schedule a consultation with Dr. Core so he may evaluate your skin and determine whether Sculptra or another filler is the best option.
Sculptra is injected into the targeted areas of your face using a very fine-gauge needle where the volume is lost. It is done in a cross-hatch format to fill in deep folds and creases as well. If necessary, a numbing agent may be applied to the target area to help with any anxiety and to ensure your comfort during the treatment. The number of treatments you need depends on the depth of the skin imperfections. Most people receive three treatments spread out about six to eight weeks apart to allow the filler to add volume.
Immediately following your Sculptra treatment, you can return to your normal activities or work. Any swelling or redness is minimal and resolves itself within a day or so.
The results take a month or two to become fully visible after the last treatment. Sculptra lasts about two years.
Sculptra works by stimulating your skin’s natural collagen production, so results appear gradually rather than immediately. Most patients begin to notice improvements in facial volume and skin texture within four to six weeks after their initial treatment. Full results typically develop over the course of three sessions, spaced six to eight weeks apart, as collagen production builds in the treated areas.
The final outcome is a smoother, more youthful appearance that looks natural and refreshed. With proper care and maintenance, the results of Sculptra can last up to two years, making it one of the longest-lasting dermal fillers available.
Recovery from Sculptra is straightforward, with little to no downtime required. Most patients can return to their daily activities immediately after treatment. Mild swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites is common but usually resolves within one to two days.
To support optimal results, you may be instructed to massage the treated areas for a few minutes five times a day for the first five days. Avoiding excessive sun exposure and following any aftercare recommendations provided by Dr. Core will also help ensure the best possible outcome.
